The IMOCAs remain in Le Havre - Transat Jacques Vabre start delayed

It now has a name: Ciaran

The storm set to sweep across the north-west of France on Wednesday night through into Thursday, which prevented the IMOCAs, the fleet’s major players, from taking Sunday’s start, is shaping up to be an exceptional weather phenomenon. We’re expecting winds in excess of 150 km/hr off the coast. Preparations are under way in Le Havre. The monohulls have been moved and moored more securely to avoid breakage and ensure they are able to put on a magical show on the water for their start.*

Denis: “There’s no disguising the fact that it’s a relief. It was the right decision and I’d like to highlight the courage of the race organisers in taking this decision.”

Gilles: “We’re heading back to work and I’ll return once the new start date is announced to accompany Denis on this wonderful Transat Jacques Vabre.”
